Events
I am often doing talks, holding plant circles or market stalls. Below you can see where I will be and come and say hello! If tickets are sold out then join the waiting list and you will be first to know of a new event.
The world is changing rapidly, and most of us have become conscious that we need to return to the Earth, and recreate a system with much more symbiosis than we currently have.
On this day Laz will be sharing academic knowledge, practical teachings about herbs for health, insights on the current systems and possibilities for something better. She will also be talking about her research in ethnobotany and ensuring the longevity of the old and natural ways of living.
Her hope is that you will gain an illuminated perspective that will leave you feeling more hopeful, curious and powerful than before.
This event is to celebrate 5 years of her herbal business Laz The Plant Scientist, but also to raise funds to support her research. Community events like this allow the research to maintain being an independent body of work, so she can freely do what she believes is best for our communities and our planet.
Plus it’s a chance to have some herbal shots, listen to some good music and find the others that care about the same things!

Home herbalism class- plants for stress, mental health and immunity
13th May 2026
In this workshop medicinal plant scientist and board member of the McKenna Academy Rebecca Lazarou guides you through herbal medicine making, with plants to support stress, mental health and immunity.
Sadly traditional medical knowledge and wider ethnobotanical knowledge is not being passed down to new generations, and is at risk of extinction. Rebecca’s PhD is focusing on protecting this knowledge on her home island of Cyprus, and then creating citizen science methods so people can do this for their own communities. The proceeds from this workshop will support this conservation research project.
Workshop description
Herbal medicines have been used for millennia to support good health and wellbeing. Knowledge of which plants and fungi are effective was once a normal part of households, however over time this valuable knowledge has been lost.
This workshop will help to restore this knowledge and go as follows:
- A socio-cultural history of herbalism, to enlighten people on the political history of herbalism and why it is now a largely marginalised practise
- The scientific principles of herbal medicines and the doctrines of herbalism
- Medicinal plants for home herbalism and the science behind them
- Practical advice on herbalism, sourcing sustainable and quality herbs and when to see a medical herbalist
PLEASE NOTE: The timing is on eastern time to accommodate participants in the USA. The workshop will be for 2 hours and replays will be available for a month after the class. Tickets are available on a sliding scale.
